On Monday, September 22, the second advisory board meeting of the Sensorized Surgery research project took place at Technische Universität Ilmenau. The venue was the Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies (ZMN), an interdisciplinary research environment that provided an excellent setting for scientific exchange.

Presentation of Research Progress

The participating research groups presented the current status of their work. The intensive discussions with the advisory board members yielded valuable feedback, suggestions, and impulses that will directly feed into the further progress of the project.

Scientific Highlight

A particular highlight was the presentation by Prof. Sinzinger, who introduced the research of his group on “Optical Precision for Insights into Biology and Technology.” Despite a delay in the program, this talk was flexibly integrated and offered highly relevant insights into the potential of optical precision technologies.

Insights into Research Infrastructure

Following the official program, participants had the opportunity to explore TU Ilmenau’s research infrastructure in more detail. Two guided tours were offered: one through the Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies and another through the Ilmenau Interactive Immersive Technologies Center (I3TC). Thanks to the expertise of Ms. Illing and Mr. Helbig, participants gained in-depth insights into ongoing research, technical capabilities, and future perspectives.

Special thanks go to the advisory board members for their constructive contributions, as well as to the staff of TU Ilmenau for their excellent organization, thoughtful hosting, and warm hospitality.
