Inspiring exchange in the project – networking, new approaches and exciting research!

On 24 March 2025, our first face-to-face project meeting of the year took place at IPHT in Jena – a valuable opportunity for personal exchange and the further development of our interdisciplinary work. Following last year’s successful face-to-face meeting, we were once again able to present the progress made by the individual working groups and gather important ideas for the challenges ahead.

Insights into the meeting

Dr. Mothes began by presenting the work of the TZLR. The centre will support our project in the future through stronger networking with industry and research partners. This exchange is a decisive factor for the further development of innovative solutions in our field of research.
The various working groups then presented their current status, reported on challenges and introduced new methods. The ENT working group provided an exciting example: a new staining method for tissue is currently being tested here, which should help to identify tissue containing tumours even better. Such advances are essential in order to develop more precise diagnostic options and innovative treatment methods.

The strength of interdisciplinary collaboration

A key added value of our project lies in the interdisciplinary collaboration. The combination of different specialisms and perspectives makes it possible to find new approaches to solutions that might have remained hidden to individual researchers. This became particularly clear in the open discussion rounds, in which new ideas and alternative approaches were developed.

Conclusion and outlook

The meeting once again showed how valuable personal dialogue is. Collaboration across disciplinary boundaries gives rise to innovations that are of great importance for both research and practice. In the coming months, we will continue to deepen the knowledge gained and plan the next steps.
