First workshop: Live surgery at the UKJ

The first workshop in the “Sensorized Surgery” project took place on 08.03.2024. Participants from the project partners at TU Ilmenau, IPHT and FSU Jena came together at Jena University Hospital to take part in a live operation. They first visited an ENT operation, followed by a tumor operation in neurosurgery.

The colleagues gained practical insights into the surgical procedure and the surgeons’ work with the various tools and instruments on the patient. This enabled them to develop a better understanding of the surgical challenges and problems to be solved by the project.
